Microsoft Azure Stack HCI Solutions

Azure Stack HCI is the latest hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) Operating System delivered as an Azure service, that provides security, performance and the latest feature updates. VMware Solutions

vSphere has two core components which are ESXi and vCenter. ESXi is the virtualisation platform where you create and run virtual machines and virtual appliances. vCenter Server is the service through which you manage multiple hosts connected in a network and pool host resources.

The hypervisor architecture provides a high-performance and robust virtualisation layer that enables virtual machines to share hardware resources and achieve performance that can match native throughput. Virtual Symmetric Multiprocessing enables the use of powerful virtual machines that can utilise up to 128 virtual CPUs.
Virtual Machine File System allows for virtual machines to access shared storage devices and is a key technology for other vSphere components such as Storage vMotion®.

Data Protection™ is the VMware backup and replication solution. It is powered by EMC Avamar. The solution delivers storage efficient backups through patented variable-length de-duplication in addition to rapid recovery and Wide Area Network (WAN) optimised replication for disaster recovery. The software has vSphere integration and a simple user interface which makes it an easy and effective backup tool. The solution provides agentless and image-level VM backups to disk, in addition to application-aware protection for business-critical applications. Finally, the solution possesses WAN-efficient, encrypted backup replication to multiple sites.
vShield Endpoint™ can secure virtual machines with antivirus and antimalware solutions which are offloaded as such there is no need for agents inside the virtual machine.
Virtual Volumes enables abstraction for various external storage solutions such as SAN and NAS thus making them virtual machine aware.
Storage Policy-Based Management allows for common management across all storage tiers and a dynamic storage class of service automation. This is accomplished via a policy-driven control plane.
