iomart accelerates managed hosting growth with acquisition of RapidSwitch

iomart group has acquired the entire issued share capital of RapidSwitch Limited, a managed hosting provider and currently ranked by Deloittes as the 10th fastest growing technology company in the UK, for £4.3 million cash on completion with a further £0.95 million payable on 31st March 2010.

The company is focussed on delivering highly reliable managed hosting solutions for its clients. RapidSwitch currently manages over 4,000 dedicated servers on behalf of 1,600 clients ranging from SMEs through to large corporate. For the year to March 2008 revenues grew from £1.4 to £2.6 million and EBITDA was £760k. Similar rates of revenue growth have been maintained through to March 09.

Rackspace posts 21% profit for first quarter

Rackspace Hosting has announced its results for the first quarter of 2009. The San Antonio-based Web hosting company reported net income of US$6.6 million, up 21% from the same quarter a year ago.

Rackspace reported net revenues of US$145.1 million, up 21% from the same quarter a year ago. The depreciation of the pound sterling resulted in a negative impact of US$3.2 million on its revenue. The company gets 24% of its revenue generated in pounds from its operations in the United Kingdom.

UK based ISP Lumison has announced that managed hosting provider NetBenefit has chosen Lumison as its new data centre partner. Under the agreement terms, NetBenefit will provide its customers with secure and reliable managed hosting facilities and a resilient fibre network out of Lumison’s Croydon facility.

According to NetBenefit CTO Gerry Lawrence, the company was seeking additional data centres to meet the growing demand for its managed hosting services, citing “scale for growth, high resilience and environmental awareness” as key criteria for selecting the Lumison’s South London facility data centre. “I am particularly pleased that Lumison’s approach to environmental and carbon management within the data centre was key to the selection process.” says Dr Aydin Kurt-Elli, Lumison CEO
